Maryland residents are offered wonderful and much needed services such as trash removal, mail delivery, street cleanup and road repairs from the city or county in which they live. In Baltimore, city workers have many responsibilities with regard to community upkeep, and they are trained to be vigilant while out performing these essential jobs. Even with the best of care, accidents can happen. Reportedly, the city is set to approve settlement agreements regarding two separate auto accident claims.

The first case involved a man who was killed by a city trash truck while he was crossing the street with a “walk” signal. The trash truck was attempting to make a left turn on a green light. The truck hit the victim, causing extensive injuries, including traumatic brain injury. Sadly, the man lost his life, and a claim was made on behalf of his estate. The Settlement Committee of Baltimore’s Law Department has recommended that a settlement in the amount of $350,000 be approved by the city.

The second case involved a high speed chase that resulted in the deaths of three people. Police officers in an unmarked vehicle were pursuing a 28-year-old male, who was apparently facing drug charges. After authorities called off the pursuit, the fleeing motorist apparently slammed into an SUV at over 100 mph. The collision killed a passenger in each vehicle and the eluding driver; the SUV driver was seriously injured. A proposed $500,000 settlement resulting from the high speed chase will be split among the surviving victim and the families of the two deceased victims.

If you live in the state of Maryland, you’re well aware of the fact that the spring months can bring quite a bit of rain to the area. While this can be enjoyable at times, this is anything but the case if you find yourself behind the wheel of your car during a rainstorm.

Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to ensure that you’re driving as safely as possible in the rain. Consider making these changes to your driving style:

— Slow down. Rain can make it difficult to see what is happening around you. Furthermore, this makes it more difficult to stop your vehicle in a hurry. With both these things in mind, you must slow down when the rain begins to fall. Making this one change will go a long way in improving your safety.

Driving under the influence in Maryland has led to many car accidents and fatalities. Those who operate a vehicle while intoxicated put their lives and the lives of others in grave danger. Drivers who operate a vehicle while under the influence have slowed reflexes and are often distracted or simply unaware of their surroundings. A family who has suffered the unthinkable will hopefully find some peace as the driver of the vehicle that caused a car accident that took the lives of several family members goes to court.

On Oct. 10, 2014 the defendant was driving more than 70 mph when he hit a car that was stopped at a stop light. The impact sent the stopped vehicle into a utility pole. It was later determined that he also had a suspended license and was driving under the influence.

Prosecutors say the man has pleaded guilty to negligent manslaughter for the deaths of three adults and two children. One of the deceased adults was in the vehicle with the defendant. The now convicted man will be sentenced in May.

When driving Maryland roads, either for pleasure or for work, the roads can be a dangerous place. Road construction and other drivers all play a part in making the operation of a motor vehicle a task that requires complete concentration. A car accident can occur at any time and at any place and can be a minor fender bender or a tragedy that seriously injures or fatally wounds drivers or their passengers. Recently, a passenger in a car was seriously injured when the vehicle in which he was riding struck the side of a bus.

Officers were called to the scene of the motor vehicle accident around 4:16 p.m. on Thursday March 9, 2017. Investigators say that a bus was traveling northbound and was making a left hand turn. During the execution of the turn, the bus was struck by a car traveling southbound. The force of the collision pushed the bus onto the center median.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old male was pronounced dead on the scene. The 24-year-old passenger was transported to a local trauma center with serious injuries. The driver of the bus was the only one on board at the time of the accident and he was not injured. Police believe the speed of the car to be a major factor.

Legislators and police work hard to ensure that the right traffic laws are put into place and observed to keep drivers safe. Most motorists are diligent and cautious when cruising the Maryland roads. Some motorists  make the deadly mistake of operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Two Maryland residents recently lost their lives in a car accident where alcohol is a suspected factor.

Anne Arundel County Police were called to the scene of a car accident around 2:28 a.m. Police say a car, driven by a 24-year-old male, was heading north when it hit another vehicle trying to cross the highway. The vehicle crossing the highway hit a tree and then a pole. The driver of the vehicle trying to cross the highway, a 26-year-old male, and his passenger, a 25-year-old female, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The surviving motorist was transported to a local shock trauma center and is being treated for serious injuries. Police suspect speed and alcohol use are contributing factors to the deadly crash. Authorities are still investigating.

The damage that car accidents in Maryland cause may range from the minor fender benders to the devastating high-speed, multi-car pileups. If a motorist is killed in an auto accident and the victim’s loved ones decide to file a legal claim, this kind of claim is governed by the law of negligence. That is, motorists must exercise reasonable care under the circumstances, and a failure to do so may be considered negligence.

A recent vehicular accident resulted in the death of one man. The accident occurred in Anne Arundel County on a recent Friday afternoon in February. The crash involved a 21-year-old motorcyclist and a 28-year-old man driving his car.

Around 3:30 p.m., a car was traveling on a southbound road in Peoria, and a motorcycle was headed north. Then, for reasons that are currently unexplained, the driver lost control of his car and struck the motorcycle. The man was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene of the accident, according to reports. The motorcyclist was reportedly complying with state law and wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The driver of the car fled the scene, only to be arrested shortly thereafter, police said.

The damage that car accidents in Maryland cause may range from the minor fender benders to the devastating multi-car pileups. Personal injury and wrongful death claims concerning an auto accident are governed by the law of negligence. That is, motorists must exercise what is referred to as reasonable care under the circumstances. A failure to do so typically constitutes negligence.

A car accident occurred recently in Prince George’s County. It happened on a recent morning in February, county police said. It involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Around 8:30 a.m., a man walking in a parking lot with his mother was struck by a vehicle driven by a man of undisclosed age. The victim died at the scene of the incident. Interestingly, the victim was apparently carrying an assault rifle at the time of the accident, and it was recovered at the crash site by law enforcement personnel. The driver remained at the accident scene and has been cooperating with county police in their investigation.

A fatal two-car accident occurred recently in St. Mary’s County. The crash happened around 8 p.m. on a recent Friday in January. The tragedy resulted in the death of two individuals.

Members of the Collision Reconstruction Unit with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into the accident. Their investigation revealed that a 24-year-old Waldorf man was headed northbound when a car operated in the southbound lane by a 42-year-old Pennsylvania man suddenly crossed the center of the roadway and struck the first vehicle, head-on. The driver of the northbound was extricated and airlifted to Shock Trauma. Both occupants of the southbound vehicle died at the scene of the accident. Although it appears that speed was not a contributing factor, it is not yet clear whether alcohol contributed to the accident.

When individuals are the victims of vehicular accidents in Maryland, the effects may be life altering. The injuries suffered, whether temporary or permanent, may result in those individuals not being able to work in the short term or ever again. In the event the car accident proves fatal and was caused by another driver’s negligence, the victim’s loved ones may have legal options available to them.

A recent Maryland car accident took the life of one individual. The accident occurred in Frederick County on a recent Wednesday in January. All lanes of westbound I-70 were shut down, Maryland State Police reported.

Around 9 a.m., police said three dump trucks and a passenger car were traveling in the westbound lane of traffic. Witnesses said that two of the dump trucks and the passenger vehicle stopped to allow a motorcade from Washington to pass. The SUV was then rear-ended by a third dump truck. The SUV driver was later pronounced dead at the accident scene while two of the dump truck drivers were rushed to a local hospital.

From moderate injuries suffered from the results of minor fender benders to catastrophic injuries suffered from high-speed multi-car pileups, car accidents in Maryland come in many shapes and sizes. However, when a car accident involves a pedestrian, the injuries suffered are rarely minor. If a pedestrian is injured as a result of another driver’s negligence and decides to file a legal claim, these claims are governed by the law of negligence. That is, motorists must exercise “reasonable care under the circumstances” and a failure to do so may be considered negligence.

A car accident between a pedestrian and a car occurred recently, police said. The accident happened on a recent Monday in January. It occurred in Wheaton, Montgomery County.

Montgomery Police said that at around 11:49 a.m., an elderly woman was struck by a car while crossing the street.  A 21-year-old man was driving northbound on the road when he struck the 82-year-old Silver Spring woman. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident and was rushed to a local hospital.
