Recent Maryland auto accident kills 1 pedestrian

The damage that car accidents in Maryland cause may range from the minor fender benders to the devastating multi-car pileups. Personal injury and wrongful death claims concerning an auto accident are governed by the law of negligence. That is, motorists must exercise what is referred to as reasonable care under the circumstances. A failure to do so typically constitutes negligence.

A car accident occurred recently in Prince George’s County. It happened on a recent morning in February, county police said. It involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Around 8:30 a.m., a man walking in a parking lot with his mother was struck by a vehicle driven by a man of undisclosed age. The victim died at the scene of the incident. Interestingly, the victim was apparently carrying an assault rifle at the time of the accident, and it was recovered at the crash site by law enforcement personnel. The driver remained at the accident scene and has been cooperating with county police in their investigation.

After a fatal auto accident, it is typical for a victim’s loved ones to have pressing questions about what occurred and what happens next, especially how any resulting expenses will be paid. The surviving family may be entitled to financial relief. An individual who negligently operates a vehicle in a manner that causes the death of another may be required to pay for documented damages that result. A family typically begins this process by consulting an experienced Maryland personal injury attorney to assess the validity of a claim.
