Early morning car accidents are often deadly. Many drivers out at predawn or very late hours of the evening do not often face an overabundance of other motorists on the road. The lack of distraction that other vehicles can cause may make some drivers use excessive speed, consume alcohol or illegal substances, or demonstrate less precaution while behind the wheel. The lack of concentration can lead to life altering car crashes. One such wreck has Maryland police continuing their car accident investigation after an early morning incident claimed a life.

A busy interstate has recently kept authorities quite busy. The call came in around 2:20 a.m. A man had been driving northbound on the southbound side of the interstate. His car struck another vehicle, causing the deadly accident.

The driver of the vehicle headed in the wrong direction was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. Two other victims were injured in the wreck. A 21-year-old male was flown to a local shock trauma center for serious injuries. The other victim, a 25-year-old male, was transported by ambulance with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident.

With the Fourth of July holiday approaching, many in Maryland are making plans for fun and exciting celebrations. Some may plan to attend the parade and fireworks in Annapolis, and others may be crossing the Bay Bridge heading to the shore. Certainly, these events will include music, summer foods and beverages, and very good friends to make the celebration complete. Unfortunately, for some, the celebration will end with a motor vehicle accident caused by a drunk driver.

A recent study shows that July 4 is the most dangerous driving day of the year nationwide. Across the country, an average of 119 people die in traffic accidents on Independence Day, and 47 percent of those fatalities involve alcohol. While many might believe New Year’s Day sees the highest number of alcohol-related fatalities, the average for Jan. 1 is typically 41.6 percent.

Overall, drunk drivers are responsible for about 28 percent of all accidents throughout the year. Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Maryland urges revelers to stay off the road even if they have had only one drink. With the many options available for finding a safe way home, driving under the influence and risking the lives of others on the road may be a decision one regrets for the rest of his or her life.

Those working in the medical field are subjected to abnormally high rates of stress. Couple the stress with lack of sleep from long shifts, and the combination can lead to unfortunate outcomes, especially while driving. A Maryland doctor lost his life in a recent car accident.

The man was killed in a single car crash on June 10, 2017. The young doctor was also a rising singing sensation after he appeared on stage with Boyz II Men in January. A video he had posted of himself singing went viral and led to an audition for America’s Got Talent. The 29-year-old was to appear on the popular television show sometime in July.

Reports indicate that the doctor was riding in the passenger seat when his friend, the driver, fell asleep behind the wheel. The car then veered off the road and struck a tree head-on. A passenger in the backseat, as well as the driver, survived the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not being considered as factors. The victim succumbed to his injuries the following morning.

No state in America is free from the scathing after effects of the drug epidemic which is sweeping the nation. People from all walks of life have been found in possession or under the influence of an illegal substance. What is more chilling for Maryland residents is the uptick of recent fatalities due to the rise of such leisure activities. A local woman was recently sentenced from a car accident that killed a newlywed couple last year on Valentine’s Day.

A local woman was recently sentenced to eight years in prison. The 28-year-old woman pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges which came from an incident that occurred in 2016. She was operating a vehicle that crossed the median and hit another vehicle head-on.

The victims of the crash, a 21-year-old male and a 20-year-old female were out celebrating their six-month anniversary when the accused used heroin and got behind the wheel. The male driver of the other car was pronounced dead at the scene. His new bride and only passenger died early the next morning at a local hospital as a result of her injuries. During the recently sentenced woman’s hospital stay after the crash, toxicology reports showed cannabinoids and opiates in her urine.

Anticipating the day that one can drive to school or take a first drive alone can be exhilarating. Earning that badge of honor that comes in the form of a drivers license is a privilege that many young American teenagers can’t wait to earn. But with the license comes a tremendous amount of responsibility. Young Maryland drivers should understand the importance of good driving habits and the devastating effects a negligent driver can have for others out on the road.

Anne Arundel County police were called to the scene of an accident Tuesday, June 6. Around 3:44 p.m., a car driven by an 18-year-old female crossed the center lane and struck an oncoming van almost head on. The resulting accident ejected the young woman from her vehicle. She was pronounced dead by authorities at the scene. The driver of the van, a 57-year-old male, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The reported cause of the accident is believed to be excessive speed. Authorities are also pointing to the girl’s inability to stay right of center as contributing to the fatal accident. The crash is still being investigated.

As the weather warms up, so does the traffic on busy Maryland streets and once-quiet back roads. Longer days and summer breaks from school have most out enjoying the warmth and company of friends who, during the cold wintery months, might not have had so much free time. With more people out and on the roads, the likelihood of an auto accident occurring increases. Even the most experienced drivers are not exempt.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to a car crash on June 1, 2017. The call came in around 7:30 p.m. It was reported that a pickup truck and a small car collided at a busy intersection.

An 18-year-old male was driving the small car. He was transported to a local hospital and to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Three passengers in his vehicle, an 18-year-old male, a 21-year old male and a 19-year-old woman, were transported to a local shock trauma center. The driver of the pickup, a 61-year-old male, was also taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries. Police are still investigating.

A three-day holiday weekend is often a cause for celebration. The reprieve from work for one additional day seems to put even the most disgruntled employees in a chipper mood. But as with any social festivities, caution should be taken when heading out on Maryland roads. The number of auto accidents increase when more people are out, young drivers take to the road and alcohol is thrown into the mix. Six local teens and their families are reeling after a recent head-on collision sent the teenagers to the hospital.

The incident occurred on Monday, May 29, 2017 in Washington County. Maryland State Police responded to a call slightly before 8:30 p.m. It is believed that a minivan was making a left hand turn into a driveway. Apparently, the driver did not realize that another, smaller car was heading straight for them. The smaller car hit the minivan head on.

The two passengers and the driver of the minivan were all juveniles and were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The 19-year-old male driver of the car was flown to local hospital for treatment. A juvenile passenger and a 19-year-old male passenger who were riding along were flown to a shock trauma center. Police are still investigating the incident.

A multi-car accident caused serious injuries to several individuals, including a baby, a child and a teenager. The wreck took place in Germantown, Maryland, where one car crashed into six others. The other vehicles were all stopped at a traffic light when the first one came busting through. The car accident proved to be an especially damaging one.

The driver of the first car is 43 years old. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He had two passengers in the car with him who were also seriously injured, a 36-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy.

One of the other drivers is 41 years old and had serious injuries. Two of the passengers in that car were children. One was a 2-year-old girl, and the other was an 11-month-old boy. They were also taken to the hospital and had serious injuries.

Life in Maryland has become a screaming blur of all of the things that one has done during the day and still has yet to accomplish. The stress and demands of everyday life can wear down even those who thrive on deadlines and due dates. Sometimes, getting behind the wheel to drive somewhere is the only chance some get to take a much needed rest from tasks. This reprieve can lead to an emotional let down, which then tires the mind and body. While driving a vehicle, the release can be deadly, causing a car accident and putting everyone on the road in danger.

A woman was driving on a well traveled Maryland route when witnesses noticed she began swerving. The supposed tired driver of the SUV eventually hit a road divider for a left turn lane and rolled her vehicle into the oncoming south side of the road. Once the vehicle was in the south lane, it was then hit by a smaller car.

The driver of the SUV was reported deceased at the scene. The driver of the smaller car was flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital and treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding and leading to the car accident.

Two people have been killed and several others injured in a fiery accident that took place a couple of weeks ago. According to a preliminary investigation, the crash was a drunk driving accident which could have been prevented. While six people were able to escape the crash with just injuries, two lost their lives on a Maryland road that night. The wreck occurred when a Suburban carrying six people crashed into the back of a Jeep with two people in it.

According to the report, the Jeep was traveling northbound when it was rear-ended by the Suburban, which is said to have been traveling at a high rate of speed. Witnesses say that the Suburban then careened off the right side of the road. It continued traveling through a telephone pole and several trees before coming to a rest upside down. It then caught fire.

With the help of onlookers, four people were able to escape the fiery blaze of the Suburban and were flown to the hospital for treatment. The driver and front-seat passenger were not so lucky. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The two in the Jeep also escaped with just injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. One witness was burned when he pulled a passenger from the blaze.
