Driving or riding in a car is an activity in which the vast majority of Americans participate. Because it is such a common activity, it is easy to overlook the potential risks. For example, even what most people would consider safe maneuvers could cause car accidents that result in death or serious injuries. One driver’s recent attempt to make a u-turn in Maryland has resulted in the death of one and injury to three others.

The accident occurred in the early morning hours of a mid-December day. Reports indicate that a 28-year-old driver attempted to make a u-turn. As she did so, her vehicle was struck by a second car driven by a 32-year-old male. The driver of the first car and her two passengers were transported to an area hospital where the driver and one passenger are still being treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle was also transported to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he died from his injuries soon afterwards. Police continue to investigate the accident, and there is no information currently available on possible charges.

Damage to vehicles, minor and major injuries and death can all result from collisions. Car accidents on the interstate tend to have more serious results than those on other roads because of the speed at which the vehicles are traveling. Unfortunately, drivers can often be more reckless when there is a long stretch of open road in front of them. Also, driving at night becomes riskier because there is less time to react to unexpected objects. A recent accident on a Maryland interstate showed how devastating such a collision could be.

A woman was driving west on I-70 one Saturday when her vehicle was struck. The car responsible for the accident had been traveling through the westbound lanes while going east. The eastbound vehicle caught fire after flipping and crashing over the guardrail. Troopers arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.

Authorities declared that the passenger in the wrecked vehicle had died in the accident. Both drivers were taken to nearby hospitals by air transport. Alcohol is said to have been a contributing factor in this fatal collision. Any citations and charges for reckless driving or vehicular assault have not yet been filed.

The majority of drivers assume that they need to watch out for drivers behind them, beside them and possibly in front of them. However, most do not consider the possibility of a driver coming towards them in the same lane of traffic. When this does occur, car accidents are the likely result. Such an accident recently occurred on I-70 in Maryland.

According to police, the driver of a newer model vehicle was heading east. This would have not been a problem, except that he was in the lane of traffic that was heading west. As a result, he collided with a Nissan Rogue. Early indicators suggest that alcohol may have been involved in this accident.

This head-on collision has resulted in tragedy. The backseat passenger in the Nissan died as an immediate result. Additionally, the drivers of both of the vehicles sustained serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. Their current medical condition is unknown.

A girl struck by a car is in critical care, according to local sources. Maryland police have called in experts in car accidents to reconstruct the scene of the incident as part of their ongoing investigation. No charges have yet been filed in association with the case.

According to the reconstruction team, it appears as though a vehicle was traveling south on Old Camp Road when the incident occurred on the night of Dec. 2. The exact specifics of the accident are not yet known, but the 10-year-old girl was struck with enough force to seriously injure her. She was airlifted to a hospital in nearby Washington and was placed in critical care. As of this writing her condition is said to be improving and the doctors expect her to recover.

Little is known about the driver of the car that struck the girl. Police have not taken the driver into custody, and at this point too little is known about the accident for police to file charges. They have also not speculated as to whether alcohol or high speeds were factors in the accident, though it seems likely this will factor into their ongoing investigation.

There are many good drivers on the road. Often, even the most experienced and careful drivers are completely unable to avoid car accidents when, for example, one car unexpectedly swerves into the lane of another. According to police reports, an accident similar to this in Maryland resulted in one man’s death and the serious injury of three others.

In late October, a 41-year-old driver was traveling on a Maryland road with his 40-year-old-wife and 17-year-old son. They were traveling in the opposite direction of a large pickup truck. Police claim the driver of the pickup lost control, causing him to veer across the center line and strike the oncoming vehicle.

Unfortunately, the driver of the first car died at the scene. All others were transported to a local hospital. The deceased man’s wife has since been released, but his son is still considered to be in critical condition. The driver of the pickup truck is in serious condition.

In recent years, it seems that the idea of using a bicycle as a primary source of transportation has become increasingly popular in this country. The benefits are obvious — it is better for the environment, provides exercise and reduces transportation costs. However, several well-publicized car accidents have recently made Anne Arundel bicyclists concerned about their safety while on the road.

Two recent fatalities this summer have residents especially worried. Both involved educators who were struck and killed by a vehicle while cycling. Another incident resulted in the serious injury of a cyclist who was struck by a car. Public health and safety officials report they receive an average of three calls a month related to bicycle accidents.

However, despite these recent incidents that resulted in a significant amount of media coverage, Anne Arundel officials report that the number of bicycle-related incidents has remained fairly steady over the last three to five years. Despite this, some enthusiasts, including owners of cycling-related businesses, worry that people’s fear of being injured or killed deters them from utilizing bicycles on public roads as a form of transportation. The county has reported 13 serious cycling accidents since 2010; four of these resulted in fatalities.

There are many unavoidable accidents. However, it is rare that people involved in car accidents are following the rules of the road with no distractions. For example, many accidents can be traced back to a distracted driver, reckless driving or driving under the influence. Unfortunately in many of these accidents, people who are completely innocent of these trespasses are frequently victims. A recent accident in Maryland has caused the serious injury of two drivers, and police suspect the rules of the road were not being followed at the time.

A sedan, driven by a 27-year-old male, and truck, driven by a 60-year-old male, were traveling west on a Maryland road in the early morning hours in mid-September. Police report that sedan hit the truck, causing the truck to exit the road into a wooded area. The sedan flipped, throwing its driver into the median.

Both drivers were transported to a local hospital for treatment. While both men are considered stable, they are listed in critical condition. No criminal charges have been filed at this time. However, the investigation into the incident continues, and police have stated they suspect alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors.

Many people await the day when they are finally able to get their learner’s permit. Unfortunately, these inexperienced drivers often have a large amount to learn before they are able to drive unattended. As a result, Maryland has regulations in place restricting the driving of those who only have learner’s permits in an attempt to limit or prevent car accidents. In a recent case, authorities allege that a male who should not have been driving unsupervised crashed into a local cell phone store.

In early September, a 21-year-old driver allegedly crashed through the glass windows in the front of a Sprint store. According to reports, the sedan struck the front counter. The driver claims that his brakes malfunctioned which caused the accident. However, authorities counter that an inspection of the brakes showed they were working properly.

A customer standing at the counter was struck and transported to a hospital for treatment due to a head injury. A worker at the store was also treated for minor injuries. The driver was not injured, but faces several criminal charges including violating driving restrictions and failing to maintain control of his vehicle, causing a collision.

As summer is winding down, students are preparing to return to school. Unfortunately one rising freshman in a Maryland community will likely be spending the opening days of school recovering in the hospital instead of catching up with classmates. While his family is likely happy the teenager survived a potentially fatal car accident, they are likely wondering how they will afford the mound of medical bills that will likely result from his treatment. Fortunately, those injured in car accidents such as the one that caused this teenager’s injuries have the option of seeking legal recourse in the form of financial compensation. The incident occurred in late August. The 14-year-old male was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a vehicle. Although he is recovering from severe head trauma, he is expected to survive.Currently, no charges have been filed as a result of the accident as the investigation is likely ongoing. However, one witness stated that the driver of the car was speeding at the time of the incident. According to officials, the area is known to be busy and somewhat dangerous.Anyone who has received care in a hospital for even minor procedures know hospital visits are expensive. The kind of care required for an extended stay with treatment for head trauma will likely result in many extremely high medical bills. Additionally, his parents may need to take leave from work as they assist with their son’s recovery. Victims, or the families of victims, of car accidents such as this can file a case in a Maryland civil court in order to seek relief from the financial pressures of such a situation. If they can prove the teenager’s injuries were a result of the driver’s negligence, they may be eligible to receive compensation for his medical bills and related damages, as well as lost wages as a result of missed work while they care for him.

Football is a major pastime in this country. Even months before the football season starts, people begin preparing with countdowns to the first game and parades in celebration of the local professional team. It is a time associated with fun, food and excitement. However, football will likely remind one Maryland family of the severe injury that their daughter received as she participated in preseason activities. As car accidents tend to do, this family has been left with several medical bills.

The accident occurred as a 5-year-old girl was crossing the street with her mother to attend the local football team’s parade weekend. According to witness reports, the young girl was holding her mother’s hand when she started to pull away. Police claim the girl was struck by a 19-year-old driver and dragged down the street. According to reports, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the accident.

The driver was eventually apprehended. She claimed that she tried to stop before striking the girl, but her breaks failed to work correctly. She also claimed that she did stop after the accident, but became nervous when a crowd began to gather and fled the scene. She now faces several crimes, including charges related to leaving the scene of an accident.
