Mother and daughter bring medical malpractice suit against clinic

When injured or ill, Maryland residents often seek the help of doctors and other medical professionals in order to receive accurate diagnoses, high-quality care and treatment; unfortunately, it may not always work out the way that they had planned. Sometimes, further injury may be caused or other complications arise. A medical malpractice suit was recently filed out of state on behalf of a patient who had to be hospitalized due to a dental infection. The suit was brought by a woman and her 4-year-old child. Her daughter underwent a tooth root canal in March 2016, the suit says.

The child’s mouth developed abscesses and she had to undergo two extractions. She was then hospitalized in October 2016 with an infection that was allegedly caused by the dental clinic’s water supply, which was reportedly contaminated. The suit also alleges that the dental clinic engaged in illegal and unethical practices by making recommendations for unnecessary work in order to maximize their profits.

A medical professional may be liable for medical malpractice due to improper treatment, a flawed diagnosis or even the treatment of a patient without having received proper permission.
