Suspected drunk driver involved in Maryland car accident

Being involved in a wreck with a drunk driver can be a frightening experience. The situation can be even more unfortunate if serious injuries result from the car accident. After such an event, criminal charges will likely be filed against the drunk driver, and any injured parties may wish to file civil claims of their own.

One family could potentially file a claim after a recent accident in Maryland. Reports stated that there were at least three individuals in a vehicle that had stopped for traffic when a vehicle approaching from behind struck the first car. The second vehicle was carrying at least one adult and four children. After police arrived at the scene, they suspected that the driver of the striking vehicle was under the influence, and she is currently facing charges.

The accident resulted in the four children in the second car being transported from the scene as a precaution. Two adults in the stopped vehicle were transported by ambulance due to their injuries, and a 14-year-old passenger in that car was airlifted from the scene. Details on their injuries were not given in the report.

Because there were multiple individuals injured in this Maryland car accident, it is possible for those suffering serious injuries to file personal injury claims. This type of claim could allow them to seek compensation for pain and suffering, medical expenses and other allowable damages. If the driver considered at fault is convicted of the criminal charges brought against her, the chances for a successful civil claim against her may increase.
