iPhone Touch Disease

Image Above: Actual iPhone Suffering From Touch Disease

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were released on September 19, 2014 with more than 10 million phones sold in just the first 3 days. From the outset, these phones have been hampered by a design flaw called Bendgate. Specifically, these phones lack rigidity and are highly susceptible to bending and flexing. Because of the continual bending and flexing these phone experience from normal day to day use, many phones develop touch screen failure now known as touch disease. This failure severely restricts the use of the phone as the touch controller chips no longer read finger pressure on the screen. As time goes on, the phones become ever more unresponsive until the touch screen fails to operate at all.

Touch Disease is readily identifiable as a gray line that appears on the top of the iPhone 6 and 6 plus screen (see images below and to the right). Normally, it will be a periodic failure of the touch screen to respond to finger pressure but with time the screen becomes less and less responsive until the phone cannot be controlled by touch. Pressure to the top right portion of the screen and/or minute bending of the phone may allow make create contact between the Touch IC chip and the logic board but it is only a short term fix. Apple has acknowledged a problem with the phone but is unwilling to consider this a warranty issue and has since discontinued phone production. If your iPhone 6 suffers from any type of touch screen failure please contact us immediately to discuss your legal options.
