Maryland woman dies after being struck while riding a motorcycle

Law Offices of Joel L. Katz, LLC Team

There are many things that motorists should consider when they are traveling on Maryland roadways. For example, there are many unexpected encounters resulting from those who use the roadways in ways other than the traditional motor vehicle, such as pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. As a result, drivers must remain vigilant. In an accident that is being described as resulting from a failure to yield the right of way, one woman has died after being struck while riding a motorcycle.

The accident occurred in the afternoon of a day in early September. Police say that a 50-year-old woman was traveling east on a Maryland roadway. A 23-year-old woman then attempted to make a turn across the eastbound lanes.

Police noted that the younger woman failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist, causing a collision. The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital for treatment but died from the injuries she suffered in the accident. It is unclear at this time if criminal charges will be filed; however, an investigation into the accident continues.

Unfortunately, this woman’s life was cut too short after being struck while riding a motorcycle. As a result, her family may be left with the unexpected financial consequences of her death, including funeral expenses and lost wages. If her surviving family members can prove that the accident was caused by the other driver’s negligence, pursuing a wrongful death suit in a Maryland civil court could potentially help reduce the financial burden created by the fatal accident.
