2 injured in recent Maryland car accident

When individuals are the victims of vehicular accidents, the effects may range from jarring to life altering. The injuries suffered, whether they are temporary or permanent, may result in those individuals not being able to work in the short term or even ever again. In a serious Maryland car accident, the medical bills may become insurmountable, particularly when an individual does not have sufficient health care coverage.

An accident occurred in Friendship, Anne Arundel County on a recent Saturday afternoon, police say. The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. Two drivers from North Beach were involved.

A car driven by a 23-year-old woman was headed eastbound when, for reasons that are currently unclear, it swerved across the centerline. It crashed head-on with an SUV driven by a 59-year-old man. The driver of the first vehicle was extricated after about 20 minutes and was then flown by helicopter to a shock trauma center in Baltimore to be treated for her critical injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was rushed to a local hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Beyond the first driver failing to stay right of center, police believe that the crash may have been caused by excessive speed and wet driving conditions.

When a car accident results in a serious injury, the victim may be entitled to financial relief. An individual who negligently operates a vehicle may be required to pay for documented damages related to the accident. The victim will be required to prove that the party believed at fault was negligent in a way that caused or contributed to the accident and resulted in the injuries specified. Victims typically begin this process by consulting an experienced Maryland attorney to assess the validity of his or her claim.
