Man and wife receive $1.5 million in medical malpractice case

An out-of-state jury recently awarded a man and his wife $1.5 million as a result of a verdict in a medical malpractice lawsuit. The suit was against a medical center's resident, whose misdiagnosis of the man's injury cost him the use of his hand. In Maryland in situations like these, where medical professionals perform their jobs negligently, victims are typically entitled to file a medical malpractice suit against them and any other responsible parties that may have been responsible.

Jury awards $950,000 to family in medical malpractice case

An out-of-state jury recently awarded $950,000 to a deceased man's family as a result of a medical malpractice suit. The man died after seeking treatment for chest pains. In Maryland, when negligent medical care results in patients experiencing serious injury or results in their death, they -- or, in the case of their death, their family -- may be entitled to file a medical malpractice suit against the party or parties who are believed to be responsible.

Medical malpractice re fertility, abortion procedure

An out-of-state couple's dreams of having another child were dashed after they learned that the fertility doctor who'd been treating the wife made a mistake. The couple say the wrong embryos were implanted and then aborted by the doctor without either their consent or knowledge. When Maryland residents are victims of medical malpractice at the hands of medical practitioners involving allegations similar to this case, they may have legal grounds to litigate a medical malpractice lawsuit.

$10.1 million awarded in medical malpractice case

A jury in another state awarded $10.1 million to a mother and son in a medical malpractice case recently. The jury determined that the physicians at the children's hospital where the son was treated failed to make a timely diagnosis of the son's bacterial meningitis after he had made several trips to the emergency room where they worked. When the medical conditions or injuries of Maryland residents are caused or worsened by medical professionals or their employers, those injured retain the right to file a medical malpractice suit against the parties believed responsible.

Child awarded $9.6 million in medical malpractice case

A federal judge awarded a young girl $9.6 million in damages in a recent medical malpractice case. The judge ruled that the 3-year-old girl suffered a brain injury during birth. Similar rulings are common in Maryland civil courts when medical malpractice cases involve birth injuries.

Patient suffers stroke, medical malpractice alleged

Many Maryland residents seek the help of medical professionals every day for treatments for health problems. In most of these instances, the medical help they receive ensures that the patients are able to return to their previous levels of health, functioning and overall well-being. However, in the cases in which mistakes or negligence occur on the part of the medical professionals or facilities, unfortunately the patients' health may be compromised, and they may be injured or killed. In these cases, the patients or their families may seek to file medical malpractice suits.
