Recent Texas hit-and-run accident after street race leaves 1 dead

It’s a person’s worst nightmare: to be awoken by the sound of a police officer knocking at the door to break the news that one’s spouse, parent or child is never coming home again. However, this is a tragic reality for countless individuals every year who lose loved ones to car accidents in Maryland. One such fatal hit-and-run accident recently occurred.

The accident occurred on a recent Thursday morning in Lusby, Calvert County. Police say it occurred around 1:32 a.m. It involved two vehicles that were allegedly street racing.

A 32-year-old man was reportedly racing his sports car with a 32-year-old woman’s sports car before the accident occurred. According to police, as the cars entered an intersection, the woman intentionally caused her car to strike the rear of the man’s car, causing it to fly off the road, into the embankment and roll, eventually landing on its roof. Police allege that the woman then left the scene of the accident. The man was rushed to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The woman is now facing charges, including DUI homicide by motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident and a slew of other DUI related charges, police said.

After a fatal hit-and-run accident like this, it is typical for a victim’s loved ones to have pressing questions about what occurred and what happens next. An experienced Maryland personal injury attorney can answer most of these questions, while helping the client to understand the options available. If a wrongful death claim is pursued, the attorney will focus on preparing the strongest case possible while helping the client navigate the often challenging civil justice system.
