Hit-and-run accident leaves man severely injured

Nearly every night on the evening news, most Maryland residents hear about at least one car accident. An all-too-common occurrence, car accidents can result in damage not only to the parties’ vehicles, but can also sometimes cause serious damage to its operators and passengers. One of the most dangerous types of collisions is when a hit-and-run accident occurs.

A recent hit-and-run accident has left a man severely injured. The accident occurred in Timonium during the night in the latter part of June. According to the local police, a man tried to cross a street when he was hit by an older red SUV.

According to a local business owner, the driver of the SUV left the scene through a fast food restaurant’s parking lot. The victim was taken to a local medical center’s Shock Trauma center in critical condition. His current condition is unknown.

It is unclear whether the authorities will locate the driver who caused this thoughtless crime. If he or she is located, and their negligence is proved to have been a contributing factor in causing the pedestrian’s serious injuries due to the hit-and-run accident, the victim will be entitled to file a personal injury claim against the driver. In Maryland, when this type of claim is successfully filed, compensation derived from it can be used to offset some of the financial burdens that the victim may have encountered, such as time spent in the hospital as well as lost pay due to being unable to work. An experienced personal injury attorney is often consulted to determine whether or not there is a valid case.
