Driver suffers serious head injury in collision with dump truck

Commercial trucks can weigh anywhere from 16,000 to 20,000 pounds. In Maryland and elsewhere, accidents involving them may result in broken bones, a head injury or even a fatality. Getting injured in a collision with such a large vehicle is often an overwhelming experience.

An out-of-state accident between a small passenger car, a semi-truck and a large dump truck has left a man seriously injured. The accident occurred on a recent Wednesday morning in November. Police say it was a hit-and-run accident.

Medics and Washington State Troopers responded to the accident around 7:40 a.m. The driver of the passenger car suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to a local hospital. The driver of the semi truck stayed at the scene. The driver of a dump truck that reportedly caused the crash left the scene after it collided with the other two vehicles, witnesses said. Detectives are gathering evidence for a pending criminal investigation in the event the driver purposefully left.

When a vehicular accident results in a serious injury such as this victim’s head injury, the victim may be entitled to financial relief. An individual who negligently operates a vehicle may be required to pay for documented damages that resulted. The victim will be required to prove that the party believed at fault was negligent in a way that caused or contributed to the accident and resulted in the injuries specified. Victims typically begin this process by consulting an experienced Maryland attorney to assess the validity of his or her claim.
