9-vehicle car accident kills one, injures 3

A massive nine-vehicle accident that occurred recently took the life of one and injured three others. The tragic car accident occurred on a recent Thursday morning in Prince George’s County, police say. When individuals are killed in car accidents like these in Maryland that are due to another driver’s negligence, loved ones are typically entitled to file what are known as wrongful death suits against the parties believed to be responsible.

The accident occurred around 9 a.m. on Route 202 and resulted in nine vehicles slamming into one another. The man who is currently suspected of causing this horrific and deadly crash was wanted for failure to appear in court on a DUI charge filed in 2014. The accident began when a 53-year-old woman in an SUV crashed into a truck driven by the suspected liable party, Maryland State Police say.

The SUV and the truck then slammed into the seven other vehicles. A truck was sent airborne and proceeded to strike vehicles that were stopped at a traffic light, a witness claimed. The woman in the first SUV was trapped in her vehicle, the Prince George’s County Fire Department said. She was eventually extricated and rushed to a local hospital in extremely critical condition, where she later died of her injuries.

The 34-year-old man arrested after the crash was driving on a suspended license. Charges are currently pending for his alleged involvement in the crash, police say. If sufficient evidence is gathered in the ensuing legal proceedings in a Maryland court, and it can be proved that he acted negligently, he may face a conviction on a charge related to his alleged involvement in this fatal car accident. This conviction may be used as proof of negligence in a wrongful death suit brought on by the decedent’s family in order to obtain financial relief. Victims’ families typically begin this process by consulting with experienced personal injury attorneys.
