Death of a child prompts accident investigation

Maryland kids are still unable to attend school or participate in most extracurricular activities. Families may be starting to feel a little stir crazy, and it's a blessing when the weather is nice and kids can go outside for some fresh air. Even with the state's social distancing guidelines and the closure of parks and recreational areas, kids can still ride bikes, take walks and spend time out of doors. Unfortunately, a hoverboard ride resulted in the death of a local child, resulting in an accident investigation

Common causes of cerebral palsy

When Maryland parents are expecting a baby, there is lots to do to prepare for the big day. Some preparations are fun, like choosing a name, decorating the nursery and picking out tiny little clothes. There are also some very important matters to handle before birth, and while bringing home baby is usually a joyous occasion, some parents find themselves dealing with the consequences of a serious birth injury, like cerebral palsy

Were you injured by a distracted driver?

Even though Maryland residents are not out and about much these days, it is important to remain vigilant behind the wheel. While residents have been advised to stay home unless they must venture out for work or an essential errand, drivers must resist the urge to check news feeds and messages behind the wheel. A distracted driver can cause serious injury or death in the blink of an eye.

A concussion, a type of brain injury, can be hard to define

Many individuals in Maryland and elsewhere can recognize concussions in others. However, actually defining this type of brain injury can be quite challenging. The reason for this is that a concussion is a mild form of a brain injury, and determining what makes a brain injury mild is not always simple.

Brain injury recovery takes longer than previously suspected

Maryland loves sports, and the Old Line State has teams from early childhood all the way up to professional level. While fans enjoy showing up and rooting for a favorite team through thick and thin, the athletes that dedicate their time to training and playing the sports they love might be at risk. Every year an alarming number athletes suffer serious brain injury, and medical science is constantly trying to learn more about the serious risks involved with such injuries.
