Recent Maryland car accident: 1 student killed in 2-car crash

When individuals are the victims of vehicle accidents, the effects may be life-altering and in some cases, fatal. The injuries suffered may result in those individuals not being able to work in the short term or even survive, in the event of a critical car accident. When a victim is involved in a fatal accident, loved ones may have legal recourse through a personal injury suit via the Maryland civil court system.

A fatal accident occurred recently that took the life of a 20-year-old woman. The two-car accident occurred around 11 a.m. on a recent Monday in December. The Westminster woman had slowed down to either stop or make a left-hand turn onto an intersecting road when it occurred.

The woman was rear-ended by an 18-year-old Westminster woman, according to the Maryland State Police. The woman suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to a local university's shock trauma in Baltimore. There, she later succumbed to her injuries. Charges are currently pending against the other driver.

After a fatal car accident, it is typical for victims' loved ones to have pressing questions about what occurred and what happens next, legally. An experienced Maryland personal injury attorney can answer most of these questions while also helping them understand their available options. If a wrongful death claim is pursued, a lawyer will focus on preparing the strongest case possible while helping the client navigate the often challenging civil justice system. If a Maryland court rules that the driver's negligence caused or contributed to the injuries suffered, then damages may be awarded to the victim's family.
