Recent Maryland car accident: 4 injured

The damage that a vehicle crash in Maryland may cause can range from the minor fender bender to the devastating high-speed, multi-car pileup. If a motorist is injured and decides to file a legal claim, this claim is governed by the law of negligence. That is, a motorist must exercise reasonable care under the circumstances. A failure to do so that leads to a car accident may be considered negligence.

Four individuals were rushed to a hospital after being involved in a recent car accident, authorities said. The accident occurred in Woodlawn, Baltimore County, on a recent Monday evening in August. The accident happened shortly after 5:45 p.m.

A 32-year-old man who was driving with his two sons, aged 9 and 14, when another vehicle that was fleeing the police collided with his vehicle, forcing it into a tree, which then broke and fell. Authorities had attempted to pull over the second vehicle a short while before, but when the officer walked up to it, it suddenly sped off. The three individuals in the first vehicle were rushed to local hospitals with serious injuries while the 26-year-old suspect only received minor injuries.

When a car accident like this results in a serious injury, the victim may be legally entitled to financial relief. An individual who negligently operates a vehicle may be required to pay for the damages that were caused by his or her negligence. The victim, known as the plaintiff, will be required to prove that the other individual, the defendant, acted with negligence and that it was this negligence that either caused or contributed to the cause of the accident that resulted in injuries to the plaintiff. Victims typically begin this process by consulting an experienced Maryland attorney to assess the validity of their claims.
