3-car accident results in 2 injured

One Maryland resident suffered critical injuries while another suffered non-life threatening injuries after the two were involved in a recent three-car accident. The car accident also involved a tractor trailer, Montgomery County Police said. It occurred on a recent Monday afternoon in March.

According to the police, the person was driving a pickup in the southbound lane of Ridge Road at the time of the accident. For reasons that are currently unclear and still under investigation, a pickup truck traveling in the northbound lane of the road crossed the center line, and the two trucks collided. The second pickup was then struck by a tractor-trailer in the northbound lane of Ridge Road, effectively pinning the driver inside the vehicle.

The driver of the first pickup truck suffered non-life threatening injuries, while the driver of the tractor-trailer did not suffer an reported injuries. Paramedics extracted the driver of the second pickup truck, and both victims were flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital. The second pickup driver is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries. The road has since been closed while local police conduct their investigation of the accident.

It is unclear what the results of the accident investigation report will be. Although speed does not currently seem to have been a factor in this accident, distracted driving or texting-and-driving cannot be ruled out. It has yet to be seen, but a personal injury claim may be filed in a Maryland civil court with regard to this car accident. If the court rules that the other driver's negligence caused or contributed to the injuries suffered, then damages may be awarded to the victim. Victims of similar car accidents typically consult an experienced personal injury attorney for legal advice and assistance as they seek to obtain financial relief from the parties deemed responsible.
