6 injured in multi-vehicle car accident in Baltimore

Six Maryland residents were injured in a multiple-car crash recently. Of the six injured, two were ejected from their vehicle. Police say that the car accident occurred in northwest Baltimore around 9:20 p.m. on Nov. 20.

A car that was apparently speeding ran a red light. As it did so, it collided with a pickup truck, after which it crossed the center line of the roadway. In doing so, it hit a pedestrian.

After the truck was hit, it ricocheted off of another truck. It then struck another car, which flipped and hit another vehicle, a witness to the crash said. After the accident, people pulled the car out of the road and tried to get the occupants out, but they were unable to do so. The two individuals who were ejected from their vehicle were rushed to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Officials say the four other victims were taken to local hospitals to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

This multi-vehicle car accident remains under investigation by the Baltimore Police Department. If the investigation confirms that the driver of the car that apparently ran the red light negligently caused the serious injuries suffered by the accident victims, this might be used as evidence in separate personal injury claims that the victims of this crash may choose to file in a Maryland civil court. A suit of this nature may result in monetary judgment against those parties found responsible, and any funds received are typically used to help defray the costs associated with being in a car accident.
