One of the individuals, a 58-year-old woman from Clarksburg, died at the scene. Her companion, a 64-year-old man, also of Clarksburg, was rushed to a local hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, the two had been riding their bike on a local road when an SUV, driven by a 62-year-old woman from Huntingtown, hit the two from behind.
