When to file a personal injury claim after a car accident

A car accident can change your life in an instant. Just one moment can leave you with a life-altering injury and overwhelming medical bills. When facing this unfortunate and complicated situation, it is important to know if you should move forward with a civil claim and seek personal injury compensation.

Mothers might be common victims of failure to diagnose

Childbirth can be a taxing experience for Maryland women, but the real damage might be caused by what comes later -- the post-birth checkup. The failure to diagnose even a minor medical condition after birth can lead to significant medical complications later on. For one woman, her OBGYN's misdiagnosis led to a worsened medical condition that began to affect all areas of her life.

Teen cyclist still recovering from traumatic brain injury

A traumatic brain injury occurs when an external force causes brain dysfunction. It usually results from an individual receiving a violent blow -- or jolt -- to the head or body. When a Maryland resident receives a mild traumatic brain injury, this may cause a temporary dysfunction of the victim's brain cells, while a more serious injury may result in torn tissues, bruising, bleeding and other physical damage to the brain that can result in either long-term complications or death.

1 dead and 2 injured in recent highway car accident

A serious car accident can have serious repercussions on a victim's life and livelihood. However, the true damage of a car accident does not end there, as the effects often ripple out to the victim's loved ones and family. Although many Maryland drivers will never have to go through such a difficult experience, for those that do, it helps to not go it alone.

Police release victims' names after tragic Maryland accident

Maryland officers recently released a list of victims' names following a tragic accident involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 81. Six people apparently suffered injuries in the incident. Police also reported that the devastating collision resulted in the loss of one life.

Seeking compensation for damages after medical injury in Maryland

Maryland medical patients are often at risk when doctors act with negligence during treatments or surgeries. Substandard medical care causes thousands of injuries and deaths throughout the nation. Victims who survive their injuries, or family members of those who die, often seek compensation for damages by filing medical malpractice claims in civil court.

In a car accident? Taking good notes can be a wise decision.

When it comes to car accidents, most Maryland residents know that no matter how careful they are, no drivers can control the choices of other truck and car operators. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, "There are those who have been in accidents and those who are likely to be in accidents." Although modern vehicles have airbags and other safety precautionary devices and technology to protect their occupants, a serious car accident can still result in injuries to the vehicle's occupants.

Son and mother awarded $53 million for medical malpractice

An out-of-state jury recently awarded $53 million to a boy, as well as the boy's mother. The award was for a 2013 medical malpractice suit that had been filed against an out-of-state hospital. During the boy's birth, he suffered a serious brain injury at the hospital. In Maryland, when a patient similarly suffers at the hands of a medical professional, he or she, or his or her family, is often legally within his or her rights to file a medical malpractice suit.

Man paralyze, awarded $20 million in medical malpractice case

Maryland residents may have read about a man who was paralyzed as a result of medical errors and awarded a $20 million settlement recently. The medical malpractice suit blamed a hospital in another state for causing the 45-year-old man to become a paraplegic. Although the man repeatedly warned his doctors and others at the institution that he thought he had suffered a back fracture, these warnings were not heeded.
